Baby Boomers, born between 1946-1964, are turning 65 years old at unprecedented rates. According to a 2011 AARP study, for the next 18 years, approximately 76 million boomers will turn 65 at a rate of about 8,000 a day! But Boomers are also likely to be the healthiest generation to ever reach retirement age.  So most Boomers do not see themselves as seniors, nor do they feel particularly comfortable with being labeled senior citizens.  The AARP Study goes on to say, “As this unique cohort grows older, it will likely transform the institutions of aging — just as it has done to other aspects of American life. Will boomers redefine this life stage, or will it redefine them?”

Jodi Kaye has a strong belief in bringing families together through open communication. She is a Registered Nurse and is the creator of The Rites of Passage. Jodi began her career as a nurse 20 years ago when she felt a strong desire and calling to care for others.

Jodi’s nursing career has primarily focused on women’s and children’s health issues. She spent 15 years in the specialty of Labor and Delivery and Bereavement Counseling.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and has obtained National Certification in Obstetric Nursing. Motherhood and her career have led to a love and appreciation for teaching, parenting, and addressing children’s issues.

How it all began. . .

Jodi created The Rites of Passage as a result of her love for teaching in nursing and also because she is a mom to three girls. She knew she needed to find a healthy and fun way to discuss these stages with her girls so they could grow up to be happy and confident in all aspects of their lives. Once she figured out how to openly talk to her girls about puberty and sexuality, she realized that she could also help others contribute to the growth and education of their children, and she has been doing so since early 2013.

She has found that the best way to accomplish this is by developing and delivering high-quality educational workshops meant to encourage and strengthen the parent-child relationship and communication methods.
